The tree seeds have been growing well and strong. The saplings in the photos below are in the tree nursery at Kiraro, in The Rwenzori Mountains. Kiraro was particularly badly affected by flooding last year. It is hoped that the planting of these saplings will begin to improve the soil- holding it together and protecting against land slides in heavy rains. There is a great deal of excitement and expectation in Kiraro as people take away their saplings for planting. They have been taught the importance of replanting and reforestation and have promised to take care of the trees.
