Women of Hope

Our women of hope were a vulnerable group of homeless girls living in the Customs area of the South Rwenzori Diocese and on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). They made a living in whatever way they could and said they had no hope.
The Amaha We Ugandan team gathered some of these women together to help them know how much they were loved and valued. They are mentored by Miriam, a longstanding staff member with a passion for helping these girls and changing their lives.
We have been training some of these women, in groups of 5, in hairdressing and tailoring. So far we have had 2 groups of women graduate, each women receiving a starter kit to help them start a small business. A new cohort has just begun training this month.
The women are trained at the Good Samaritan Skills Centre (link to next page) They are fully integrated with the other vulnerable girls in training who come from the local area of Kajwenge.

Sharing food
The women stay at the Good Samaritan Centre where their well being is looked after by Miriam. They stay for 4 months for the duration of their training. They have their meals provided.
When Neil was visiting in February 2025 he arranged for beds to be delivered so the women didn't have to sleep on mattresses on the floor.
The beds have arrived.
